RUDBECKIA fulgida var. sullivantii (perennial black-eyed Susan) Seed Packet -- 1 Gram

$5.00

Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii (perennial black-eyed Susan) seed packet,  __ oz/grams.

This is the true perennial coneflower that spreads via rhizomes forming dense blooming mounds.  This seed takes patience but is worth the wait!  The seed needs to break dormancy (i.e., cold stratification) by either sowing in late fall or winter outside into containers with drainage holes or by placing the seeds into the refrigerator for 30-60 days prior to sowing.  If choosing the refrigerator method, mixing the seeds with moist sand or a damp paper towel in a sealed bag works well.

Preparation:  cold stratification (see above options)

Germination:  7-21 days at 68-72°

Seed depth:  surface sow as the seed needs light to germinate.

Hardiness:  USDA zones 3-9

Exposure:  full sun and well-drained soil

Mature plant height:  3’

Mature plant spacing:  1-2’

This seed is a great option if you are looking for a mass planting border.  The plant itself will spread via rhizomes so it will multiply quickly and more cost effective than buying individual perennial plants. Deadheading after flowering also offers a bonus for a second flush of blooms each summer.
